With the Google Play store on your Android device, it's a relatively easy process to check all of your application updates. All you have to do is launch the Market app, go to the My Apps section, and from there you'll be able to see all of the available updates for your applications, which should be positioned at the top of the list.
The problem with this process is that many times, you'll go days or weeks and quite possibly even months without checking the Google Play application market, leaving you with outdated apps on your device for periods at a time.
So, how can you keep all of your installed applications up-to-date?
App Update Notifier, by XDA Developer Goddchen, allows you to set up LED and vibration notifications to let you know when one or more of your apps needs to be updated, as well as the ability to control the intervals in which you're notified, whether it's daily or hourly.
While there may be other application update notifiers, what sets this one apart from the rest is its ability to check for updates for your apps from third-party markets. It does this by sending the information it normally would to a community database, which then either updates it with a newer version or notifies you if there is an update.
Since the application is fairly new, it has a small database (about 700 entries), so be patient with its development. If it doesn't work great for you, you can send any bug issues or advice to the developers at [email protected].
