Out of all the questions that we receive from our readers and viewers here at Gadget Hacks, the most frequently asked one is "What wallpaper is that?" On occasion, our wallpapers may be personal or images from the web, but for the most part, they come from dedicated wallpaper apps.
And since we're asked so often, we're going to show you some of our favorite wallpaper apps for your Android device. Bear in mind that picking and choosing you favorite wallpaper depends on your personal tastes and interests when it all boils down to it — the best we can do is help steer you in the right direction, so the wallpapers in this list is given in no particular order. That said, here's our favorite apps.

1. Backdrops
Backdrops is a solid choice if you like to cycle through different wallpapers often, as it offers hundreds of original backgrounds designed in-house by the the Backdrops team. The app features a wide variety of different themes, such as abstract, geometric, landscapes, minimal, patterns, photos, and so much more.
You can even upload your very own works of art into the app, and if approved, they'll be available within Backdrops for everyone to enjoy. Best of all, you can sync across multiple Android devices (by signing into Google) and instantly access your favorite wallpapers.
2. LoopWall
Cinemagraphs are artistic photos that have been turned into a GIF to showcase a bit of subtle motion and give them life, like water drops off a flower's petal or clouds moving over a scenic sky. While there are several apps out there that let you set your favorite GIF as a live wallpaper on your smartphone, not many come with the added option of setting these animated artworks as backgrounds for your device.
However, one such app is LoopWall by Audrius Koncius. This simple app lets you set artistic cinemagraphs as a home screen background, giving your device a touch of elegance. It has a great selection of cinemagraphs to suit almost anyone's tastes, and it's sure to set your device apart from the rest of the crowd.
3. PolyGen - Create Polygon Art
Although finding a wallpaper you enjoy is great, creating one yourself is much more rewarding. With PolyGen, you can adjust various preferences that'll help you generate a unique, polygon-shaped wallpaper. You can also use a picture to apply the polygon effect to, which can render some pretty awesome-looking results.
4. Hipster Wallpaper - HPSTR
Alright, alright... I know the name is pretty lame, but the wallpapers are cool and certainly unique. HPSTR applies different shapes that include filters over beautiful imagery, making anyone's background look like an Urban Outfitters ad. From your home screen, you can double-tap the wallpaper to cycle through others, or generate your own from within the app.
5. 500 Firepaper
500 Firepaper is a very cool live wallpaper app that does its best to save you energy. There are various preferences that'll let you select different photo categories, and once applied, will automatically cycle through them. Alternatively, you can triple-tap the wallpaper to manually change it, and it supports Muzei for added blur effects. If you want your wallpaper periodically changing, then try this one out.
6. Pixelscapes
Pixelscapes is an incredibly straightforward wallpaper app that features three animated wallpapers. Don't be fooled by its simplicity, however — it's a very charming collection of pixelated scenery that will surely to appeal to you, especially if you're into retro games. Pixelscapes also has a nifty feature that lets you automatically rotate through each wallpaper depending on the time of day, which comes with the added benefit of helping you keep track of time.
7. Wallrox Wallpapers
As I stated up top, I didn't order this list in any particular manner, but I did leave my personal favorite, Wallrox, for last. With twelve different categories to choose from ranging from Blur to Minimal, this has easily become my one-stop-shop for wallpapers. One of the best aspects of the app is the simple interface that enhances the user experience.
